i try with a usb male person to usb c adapter just it seems just able to connect to a calculator as it requires me to enter a nmber in the figurer's browser. is in that location a way to do this?

I don't take a tab S4, but every Android device I've used since 2012 has been plug and play with external storage. All I've ever had to exercise was grab a micro usb OTG cable and plug my difficult drives or flash drives right in and it was recognized.
It's possible the hard bulldoze is formatted in a format Android cannot recognize, NTFS would exist one such format. Information technology'south too possible the hard drive isn't getting enough ability.

That dongle is exactly what I've been using. None of my external drives are powered. Trouble is i don't take a computer right now, simply several android tablets and a telephone.

Ok, and so hither is what I used to employ on my first Android device after putting an NTFS enabled (NTFS.ko kernel module included) custom ROM on it, simply oasis't tested on my Tab S3 or any modern tablet. So basically, about external hard drives come with the USB cablevision that has ii computer type USB (blazon A) plugs. Get a USB extension cord and utilise it to hook upward the secondary type A connector of your HDD cable to a 5V/2A power brick (DO Not USE A MODERN QUICK CHARGER Nether ANY CIRCUMSTANCE). Plug in the hard drive to the type B connector on your cable. Then connect the cable via OTG adapter to your tablet. If information technology warns you that your drive is bare or that you need to format it, the you volition need an appropriate kernel module for the file system your bulldoze is using.

Well, mayhap newer drives come with the single one. Mine is 7 years old, and then it is meant for older computers that couldn't supply enough juice through one port to spin upwards the drive. If you lot need such a cablevision, become it off Amazon for a buck or two. Otherwise just get a quality powered USB hub.

Sad, I didn't make that articulate. I have not been able to connect my (unpowered) external hard drives. I was merely able to connect my USB flash drive.

It must draw more than the usb tin supply. It may exist possible to connect a powered usb hub and and then connect your drive to that but at today's prices, it would exist improve to get a portable drive with a power option and not mess with unpowered.

I accept powered hubs and I can connect the external ssd difficult drive to it ( my Tab iv and Tab 2s get connected to powered hubs) simply then the USB connecter volition exist connected to the powered hub and not tablet. Is there a way to connect it to both, similar a splitter cablevision with 2 USB connections? As well, I'grand non clear what the "IQ" slot on the powered hub I'one thousand looking at now is for. Duh perhaps it actually does something...

OK, using that OTG device I listed above I connected it to my Moto Z3 phone and to a non-powered portable Hd. With no external power connected the HD lite would come on only it would not exist recognized by ES File Explorer on the Moto Z3. I then hooked upwardly my charger to that OTG device and my phone started charging and it now recognized the disk and could read the files on it.
Seems like that is what you need.

The little gadget is listed on Amazon for $75 or and then, no reviews, and their website shows no price nor is it listed equally uniform with tab s4. Why is a piddling adapter like this so hard to find? Y'all'd retrieve they'd be readily available for $10 max.
